Mattar is a Palestinian artist whose work is rooted in personal and collective experience under occupation and siege. She began painting as a teenager, turning to art as a means of survival and resistance. Her early work, created in a time of crisis, gained international attention, and she soon began selling her art online and exhibiting globally. She is also the Artistic Director of the Together for Palestine Concert, and her work is in various collections like the British Museum and the Barjeel Foundation.
