Danny Aros

Danny Aros (Colombian American, b. 1991, he/she/them) is a gender non-conforming migrant artist of Andean and Amazonian descent. Danny grew up in Tampa, where their family immigrated seeking refuge. Following graduation from high school, Aros transferred to BMCC in Manhattan. After leaving college without a degree, Danny began assisting photographer Mike Ruiz. Later, Aros started producing commercial and editorial work for Rachel Elliston Photographers Ltd. In 2021, Danny resided at the Bronx River Arts Center and now has a studio at the BxArts Factory. Aros is a recipient of the En Foco Photography Fellowship, 2022. That same year, Aros received the American Photographic Artists D.C. Chapter LGBTQIA+ Grant for their series “Sin Derechos No Hay Paraíso.” In 2023, Danny showed their first solo show at the Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts. Last year, Aros followed with a solo show at the BxArts Factory in the Bronx and later that year, at Biblioteca Pública Gabriel López Chiñas in Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca- Mexico.
