Shamayel Shalizi is the founder and creative force behind Blingistan, a distinctive jewellery and clothing line that blends bold aesthetics with cultural storytelling and love for Afghanistan. A multidisciplinary artist, her work spans large-scale painting, writing, photography, and videography, each medium reflecting her deeply personal and often political lens. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology from SOAS, University of London. Currently based in Dushanbe, the lesser wild sibling of Kabul, Shamayel continues to explore the intersections of art, revolution, communism and celebrating Afghanistan, through her ever-evolving practice.
